1 professional vs. 2 separate professionals
You’ve got your wedding date, the location, and you are finally ready to book your hair and makeup artist. But who do you choose? Your favourite makeup artists hairstyles aren’t really doing it for you, and even if you did book her… you’re worried how she’s going to do mum, sisters and your hair and makeup all within the time frame! Or what if she cancels close to the time? That would be hair and makeup gone!
Booking one professional to do both hair and makeup can feel like the least stressful and easiest option. After all, it’s one person to liaise with and one less person entering your home. However, is it really the easiest and most practical option? C’mon girl… you know where I’m going with this – the benefits of having two separate professionals at your special event, let’s discuss!
Jack of all trades Vs Master of One
Firstly, booking someone separate for your hair and someone separate for your makeup means you are getting 2 professionals, both of whom are very highly experienced and skilled in their particular field. They will have spent years training to perfect their one specific area of expertise.
What does this mean? It means your professional makeup artist, for example, has developed a high level of skill and confidence in the specific field she/he holds their most strength. This level of skill benefits you whether you want a specific look or don’t have any idea what look you want! Similarly, a hairstylist, specialising in hair only, will likely have a wide repetoire of hairstyles at their disposal for you to select from rather than a standard 2-3 bridal hairstyles you are usually restricted to choose from.
Aint nobody got time foh dat!
One of the most stressful parts of a wedding for a bride and her family is timing! Having 2 professionals means your time restraints are now split in half! Having some overlap with your bridal hair and makeup is often crucial to ensure no one is waiting around for their turn, nor is there any stressful rushing towards the end. As soon as you are done with your hair, for example, your hairstylist can move on to your mum/sister, or start packing up. This all adds to creating a less chaotic environment. Most importantly, it also means your wake up time will not be at crazy o’clock! More sleep which means less bags under your eyes. Less waiting around with anxiety which means a calm and happy environment before your big day begins.
The C word
Every brides worst nightmare – Cancellation! If your professional cancels, you have lost both your hair and makeup artist in one go! Think of booking 2 professionals as a form lessening your risk of being completely stranded if the worst should happen. Sourcing a bridal hairstylist last minute would be much easier than looking for someone who has availability and time to do both – bridal hair and makeup, especially with such little notice.
The 2 for 1 Special
A common misconception is that booking a separate hair and makeup artist is going to cost you double your budget. Often the price difference is marginal and the only real extra cost is travel.. but when you’re thinking of how much time and stress you are saving yourself and your family, you’ll find it’s usually not a signifcant cost. Two professsionals for the price of one! If that deal doesn’t entice you, are you even Asian? 🤔😋
